Eguavoen Takes Super Falcons Reins vs Comoros

Zoyols News

Augustine Eguavoen has been handed the interim job of coaching the Super Falcons for their 2028 Olympic qualifying matches against Comoros.

The experienced former Super Eagles boss takes over after Justin Madugu was relieved of his duties following Nigeria’s failure to reach the 2027 Women’s World Cup. He will be supported by Christopher Danjuma of Nasarawa Amazons, former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Olatunji Baruwa, and ex-Super Falcons defender Ayisat Yusuf.

The two-legged tie against Comoros is scheduled for October 9 and 13, 2026, at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. Nigeria received a bye into the second round and will need to win four rounds of knockout ties to secure one of Africa’s two spots at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Should the Super Falcons progress past Comoros, they will face either the Democratic Republic of Congo or Morocco in the third round next February and March.
