Golden Community Development Association in Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, together with other bungalow estate groups, is organising the Unity Festival 2026 Games Edition Season One for young people in the area. The two-day event, holding on August 14 and 15, will feature football, PlayStation games, snooker, ludo, chess, table tennis, draughts and several other recreational activities.
At a recent press briefing, festival committee chairperson Mrs Esther Sodade explained that the aim is to keep the youths meaningfully engaged through activities that help them uncover their talents and better prepare for future challenges. She noted that young people today need positive outlets to steer clear of substance abuse, digital addiction, gambling and involvement in cultism or thuggery.
Public relations officer Albert Ohams added that these negative habits often come from peer pressure and limited guidance. The festival will also include wellness sessions offering free health checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar and eye tests. Guests expected at the opening include the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, the Ejigbo LCDA chairman, other top government officials, prominent residents and school owners. Winners across the various games will receive trophies, awards, plaques and certificates.
