Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed the chances of a proposed Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso presidential ticket, insisting it would struggle to gain support in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, the former Kano State governor said a joint ticket involving the two politicians under the Nigeria Democratic Congress would fail to convince voters in the state. According to him, the alliance lacks the political strength and leadership record needed to win the confidence of the people.
Ganduje expressed confidence that the ticket would not make any meaningful impact in Kano, describing its prospects as bleak from the outset.
He also questioned Peter Obi’s record during his time as governor of Anambra State, arguing that the former governor had not left behind achievements strong enough to justify his ambition of leading the country.
Ganduje said Nigerians should carefully examine Obi’s performance in office before considering him for the nation’s highest position. He asked what lasting legacy Obi left as governor and what other significant public offices he had occupied that demonstrated his ability to effectively manage Nigeria’s affairs.
According to the former APC national chairman, leadership at the national level requires a proven record of governance and administrative competence, adding that, in his view, Obi has yet to establish the credentials needed to convince voters that he is prepared to lead the country.
His remarks add to the growing political debate as parties and key figures continue to position themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
