GIG Mobility is charting a new course in the African travel industry with the official launch of an integrated digital platform that merges intercity transport, tourism, and luxury vehicle hire. The unveiling, which took place during the company’s 2026 product conference in Lagos, signals a major transformation for the firm as it moves beyond its traditional bus operations to become a comprehensive travel solution provider.
The new ecosystem is designed to be a one-stop shop for travelers, bringing together bus tickets, flight bookings, hotel reservations, and curated tour packages. According to Chief Executive Officer Enahoro Okhae, this evolution reflects the company’s growth into a global mobility organization. He noted that the days of being viewed solely as a transport operator moving people between cities like Lagos and Benin are over, as the brand now aims to manage the entire travel experience on a single interface.
At the heart of this expansion are two specialized units: PASS by GIGM and HireX. While PASS focuses on demystifying the complexities of travel by offering visa support and packaged holiday experiences, HireX operates as a marketplace connecting users with verified luxury vehicles. This service is tailored for corporate needs, airport transfers, and special events, filling a significant gap in the market for reliable, high-end vehicle hire.
Details gathered by Zoyols News suggest that this shift was largely fueled by direct feedback from customers who were looking for more than just a seat on a bus. Camsel Samuel, who heads operations for the tourism unit, emphasized that the goal is to make travel planning entirely seamless and accessible from start to finish. This move aligns with a broader trend across the continent where mobility companies are diversifying their services to better engage with the modern traveler.
Beyond its current digital rollout, GIGM is also looking toward the future of sustainable transport. The company is actively exploring the deployment of electric vehicles for passenger travel, building on successful pilots in its logistics arm. Although scaling such an ambitious project requires significant infrastructure and financial partnerships, Okhae confirmed that the company is already developing a nationwide plan to bring this vision to life.
The impact of such integrated platforms extends beyond the company itself. During the launch, Lagos State officials highlighted how efficient mobility serves as the backbone of tourism and economic growth. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, pointed out that when movement becomes unpredictable, a city’s culture and enterprise suffer. By streamlining the way people connect with businesses and destinations, GIG Mobility is not only competing for a larger share of the travel market but also supporting the broader economic momentum of the region.
