Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, has gifted ₦20,000 to each of the 1,490 corps members who just completed their orientation programme in the state. The gesture is worth a total of ₦29.8 million.

The governor said the money is to ease the financial burden of the young graduates as they move to their places of primary assignment across Kogi State. He presented the cash at the closing ceremony of the NYSC orientation camp in Asaya, Kabba.

Speaking through the Commissioner for Youth Affairs, the governor said his administration values young people and remains committed to supporting their growth. He urged the corps members to be agents of positive change, stressing the need for discipline, honesty, patriotism and selfless service.

Governor Ododo also assured them of adequate security while they serve in the state and appealed to host communities to give them a warm welcome.

The state NYSC coordinator thanked the governor for his continuous support, noting that this latest donation adds to earlier provisions of food items and financial assistance to corps members. She explained that the 1,490 young people had undergone three weeks of rigorous training before passing out of camp.
