The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement has dismissed the reported endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election by some Accord Party officials at the Osun State Government House, insisting that the gathering holds no constitutional authority and carries no weight within the party.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Coordinator, the group maintained that the meeting could not overturn the mandate already given to Dr. Gbenga Hashim, whom it described as the duly elected presidential candidate of the Accord Party.
According to the movement, Hashim secured the party’s presidential ticket on May 30, 2026, through a nationwide direct primary conducted in line with the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The group stressed that only the constitutional organs of the Accord Party have the authority to determine its presidential candidate, adding that no political gathering or endorsement outside those structures can invalidate the mandate freely given to Hashim.
It described the reported endorsement of President Tinubu as lacking legal and political effect, alleging that attempts were being made to frustrate Hashim’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
The movement also accused Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of engaging in activities it described as contrary to the party’s interests, claiming that state resources were being used to influence the internal affairs of the Accord Party.
The statement further argued that Nigerians would resist any attempt to impose a one party system or force a single presidential candidate on the electorate through political pressure or institutional influence. It maintained that the Accord Party belongs to its members and not to individuals seeking temporary political advantage.
Expressing confidence in Hashim’s chances at the polls, the group described him as a credible candidate capable of providing the leadership needed to unite the country. It added that supporters across all 774 local government areas would intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure that the wishes of Nigerians are reflected in the outcome of the election.
The movement also disclosed that the dispute surrounding the Accord Party’s presidential nomination remains before the Federal High Court in Abuja. It said proceedings have been concluded and that the parties are awaiting judgment.
While urging restraint on issues currently before the court, the group stated that Hashim remains committed to pursuing the matter through every available legal process.
According to the movement, the outcome of the 2027 presidential election will ultimately be determined by Nigerians at the ballot box, insisting that political endorsements made in government houses cannot override the will of the electorate.
