The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released 279 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results that were previously withheld over suspected examination malpractice.
According to the examination body, the decision followed an extensive review of cases flagged during and after the conduct of the UTME across different centres nationwide.
JAMB explained that some of the affected candidates were cleared after investigations found no initial evidence linking them to examination misconduct. As a result, their results were released.
The Board, however, stated that several other results remained cancelled after investigators confirmed cases of malpractice during the review process.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin.
In the statement, the examination body noted that results connected to centres currently under investigation or flagged by its monitoring team would remain withheld until all ongoing investigations are concluded.
JAMB also warned that any candidate eventually found guilty of involvement in examination malpractice during the ongoing review would have his or her result cancelled.
Part of the statement read, “The release follows ongoing investigations into cases of suspected examination malpractice. While some results have been outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, others have been released where the Board found no prima facie case against the affected candidates.”
The Board advised candidates whose results are still unavailable to check their status by sending “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.
The latest development comes as JAMB intensifies efforts to protect the credibility of the UTME and strengthen measures aimed at tackling examination fraud across the country.
