His appeal came during the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, where he was honored with the prestigious Industry Merit Award. While accepting the recognition, Kanayo took a moment to reflect on the long journey of the African film industry, dedicating his trophy to the actors, producers, and crew members who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes for decades. He paid an emotional tribute to the pioneers of the craft, many of whom have since passed away or retired in poor health.
The actor spoke candidly about his own longevity in the spotlight, admitting that standing on such a grand stage often makes him reflect on the sacrifices he has made over the years.
