The Kano State Government has shut down two private health training institutions in Nasarawa Local Government Area over what it described as serious violations of regulatory standards guiding the establishment and operation of health schools in the state.
According to Zoyols Blog, the affected schools include IBN SINA College of Health Science and Technology located in Dakata Kawaji near Juma’at Mosque, and Life Line College of Health Science and Technology situated in the Dakata Industrial Area along Bela Road in Tsamiyar Gare.
The closure followed a detailed inspection carried out by the Ministry of Health, which found that both institutions were operating without the required approval from the state government and lacked accreditation from relevant professional and regulatory bodies overseeing health education in Nigeria.
Investigations further revealed several shortcomings, including shortage of qualified teaching staff, inadequate learning facilities, weak infrastructure, and failure to meet the minimum standards required for training health professionals.
Officials also raised concerns about poor compliance with professional ethics and established guidelines meant to ensure that students receive proper and credible training for careers in the health sector.
The Ministry of Health spokesperson, Nabulus Abubakar Kofar Naisa, said the action was taken to protect the integrity of healthcare education and safeguard students and parents from institutions that do not meet approved standards.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that only properly accredited institutions are allowed to operate, stressing that the quality of healthcare delivery in the state depends on the standard of training provided to future medical workers.
The state government also warned operators of private health institutions to strictly adhere to all regulatory requirements, noting that enforcement actions would continue against any school found to be operating outside approved guidelines.
It added that the shutdown of non compliant institutions remains part of broader efforts to maintain high standards in healthcare training and improve service delivery across Kano State.
