Kebbi State politics has taken a sharp turn as the ruling All Progressives Congress hits back at the opposition African Democratic Congress over recent remarks regarding the state’s multi-billion naira budget implementation. Instead of getting bogged down in what it calls fabricated financial puzzles, the ruling party wants critics to judge the current administration by tangible developments across towns and villages.
The friction stems from recent concerns raised by the opposition regarding the fiscal roadmap of the state, questioning the disparities between projected revenues and actual spending. Addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, the Acting State APC Chairman, Adamu Mudi Augi, dismissed the allegations, maintaining that public funds are being channeled directly into legacy projects that residents can see and feel every day. Findings from the briefing, the party insisted that the administration’s financial adjustments simply reflect realistic responses to revenue shortfalls rather than any missing funds.
Highlighting the administration’s scorecard, the chairman pointed to critical infrastructure work, including the major dualization of the Birnin Kebbi-Ambursa Road, which has eased transportation for commuters and traders alike. The education sector also received significant attention, marked by comprehensive school overhauls, the creation of specialized science and skills boarding institutions, massive textbook distributions, and the recruitment of fresh teaching staff to bridge gaps in classrooms.
Healthcare delivery and housing development equally form a core part of the state’s ongoing transformation. The government has prioritized the upgrading of general hospitals alongside primary healthcare centres, boosted medical manpower by hiring new healthcare personnel, and successfully delivered the two hundred and fifty unit Kauran Gwandu Housing Estate to address accommodation needs. On the agricultural front, which remains the backbone of the local economy, farming communities have continuously received vital support through subsidized fertilizers, improved crop seeds, and modern solar-powered irrigation pumps designed to boost all-season productivity.
Insisting that governance should be anchored on visible performance rather than political rhetoric, the ruling party challenged its critics to walk the streets and evaluate the administration based on actual projects executed. The leadership emphasized that the people of Kebbi are discerning enough to observe the direct impact of government programmes on their daily lives without needing manufactured controversies.
