Kissing Scenes Are Just Part of the Job — Mojisola Adebanjo

Zoyols News

Nollywood actress Mojisola Adebanjo has shared her thoughts on the realities of acting, saying many aspects of the profession are often misunderstood by the public.

Speaking during an interview on Conversations With Kenni, the actress explained that kissing scenes are handled professionally on movie sets and should not be mistaken for genuine romantic moments.

According to her, the atmosphere on set makes it impossible to treat such scenes as personal because they are filmed in the presence of directors, camera operators and several other crew members.

She said, “Actors don’t see kissing as something serious. When we kiss, there are a lot of people in the room on set. So tell me, how do you want to take that as a romantic moment?”

Adebanjo stressed that she has never allowed intimate scenes to affect her concentration while filming, insisting that her focus has always remained on delivering her role as required.

“I have never lost focus while kissing anyone in a movie. I am being professional,” she said.

Reflecting on her role in Farida’s Secret, the actress disclosed that she approached the kissing scene with the same level of professionalism. She noted that in most of the films where she has appeared in such scenes, she rarely returns the kiss, as her attention is fixed on the demands of the script.

“Even in my movie Farida’s Secret, I didn’t kiss the guy back. He was the one doing more of the kissing. Almost all the movies I have kissed in, I don’t kiss back,” she added.

Adebanjo also spoke about the less visible side of filmmaking, explaining that actors face demanding situations that viewers rarely get to see. She said the work can be physically and mentally challenging, especially during the production process and behind the scenes, where cast and crew often deal with long hours and difficult conditions to bring stories to life.
