European football’s biggest club match is heading back to Spain. UEFA has announced that the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid will host the 2027 Champions League final, a decision made during a recent executive committee meeting in Tirana.
This will be the second time the stadium, home to Atletico Madrid, has hosted the prestigious final. It previously served as the stage for the 2019 all-English final, where Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur. The selection of Madrid came after the city of Baku in Azerbaijan was also considered as a potential host.
In other decisions, UEFA confirmed that the 2027 Women’s Champions League final will be held in Warsaw, while the Austrian city of Salzburg will host the UEFA Super Cup next year. Looking even closer, this season’s Champions League final is set to take place on May 30, 2026, in Budapest.
