Manchester United Women have announced the departure of head coach Marc Skinner, effective immediately. The decision, reached by mutual agreement, comes just one month before the squad is scheduled to kick off their new Women’s Super League campaign.
Skinner’s tenure at the helm began in 2021. Over the past few years, he played a central role in the team’s development, most notably guiding the club to their first-ever major silverware when they secured the FA Cup title in 2024. In an official statement , the club confirmed the split while acknowledging the significant impact Skinner made on the ongoing progress and professionalisation of the women’s side.
As the team prepares for the upcoming challenge, they look to build on the foundation set during his time as manager. Last season, United finished fourth in the league standings, concluding the term 15 points behind title-holders Manchester City. The squad is now shifting its focus toward their season opener, which is set to take place away at London City Lionesses on September 4.
