Nasboi Raises Concern Over Bandits’ Online Presence

Zoyols News

Content creator and singer Nasboi has expressed concern over the Federal Government’s handling of kidnapping and other violent crimes, arguing that criminal groups appear to enjoy greater visibility online than the authorities tasked with stopping them.

The entertainer made the remarks in a video shared on Facebook on Monday while reacting to a recently released video by kidnappers holding schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State.

According to Nasboi, it is troubling that armed groups continue to record, upload, and distribute videos on social media without apparent difficulty. He warned that such unchecked activity could create the impression that criminal elements are operating more freely and effectively than government institutions.

His comments followed the circulation of a fresh video from the abductors, who have kept the victims in captivity since May 15. The video surfaced shortly after President Bola Tinubu directed security agencies to intensify efforts aimed at securing the safe release of those being held.

Speaking in the footage, one of the captives, school principal Rachael Alamu, disclosed that the kidnappers had become increasingly agitated following reports of a possible rescue operation by security personnel. She claimed the armed group had threatened to harm the victims if security forces attempted to move against them and appealed to the government to consider negotiations.

Reacting to the development, Nasboi called for stronger and more decisive action against kidnapping for ransom and other related crimes. He stressed that authorities should pay closer attention to how criminal groups are using digital platforms to spread fear and publicize their activities.

“The video of the beheaded teacher is everywhere online,” he said. “The bandits are recording these clips themselves and sharing them across the internet without fear. Their phones can be traced through IP addresses, yet they continue to operate openly. At this point, they seem to have more online visibility than the people meant to stop them.”

Nasboi further stated that as the nation’s Commander in Chief, President Bola Tinubu should be able to take firm measures to address the growing threat posed by banditry and kidnapping across the country.

He questioned how such groups continue to operate with apparent confidence, suggesting that many Nigerians are beginning to wonder whether the criminals have become too powerful for security agencies to contain.

The singer also urged the Federal Government to explore every available option in tackling the crisis, including seeking international support if necessary, to bring an end to the persistent wave of kidnappings and insecurity affecting communities across the country.
