A Federal High Court in Abuja has directed the Independent National Electoral Commission to use the Nigeria Democratic Congress modified digital logo in every election the commission conducts. The court also stopped INEC from blocking the party from using its digitally designed two finger victory sign as its official emblem.
NDC National Publicity Secretary Osa Director announced the outcome in a statement on Thursday. Justice J.O. Abdulmalik delivered the ruling after the party sued INEC, saying the commission had pulled the modified logo from its database and put back the old association mark under which the party was first registered.
The case lands as parties step up work for the 2027 general elections, when campaign materials and party symbols will matter more in reaching supporters and presenting candidates.
Director said the party’s first National Executive Committee meeting on March 25, 2026 approved the modified logo and sent it to INEC. He added that INEC first uploaded the new design, then took it down and restored the old association logo without giving the party a valid explanation.
