A medical examination into the tragic deaths of two Nollywood crew members in Lekki has provided a significant update, as preliminary autopsy results have officially ruled out food poisoning. The two men, cinematographer Walter Odediran and lighting director Godstime Imeh, were found lifeless inside a vehicle on February 7, 2026, while working on a film set at Evercare Hospital.
Details made available to Reports indicate that the pathologists found nearly no trace of food in the systems of the deceased. According to sources close to the investigation, 36-year-old Walter Odediran had an entirely empty stomach at the time of his passing, while his childhood friend and colleague, Godstime Imeh, had only a negligible amount of food in his system. These findings have effectively shifted the focus of the investigation away from contaminated meals.
Kola Odediran, the elder brother of the late cinematographer, confirmed that the family received these initial findings yesterday. He explained that while the physical autopsy is finished, the absence of food in his brother’s body means the cause of death remains a mystery for now. He noted that the medical team is moving on to the next phase of the investigation to get to the bottom of what actually happened.
To find definitive answers, the authorities are now relying on toxicology and histology tests.
