Veteran Nollywood icon Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has finally broken his silence regarding the renewed tension between industry giants Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham. In a recent sit-down with Feel Right TV, the legendary actor provided a blunt and candid explanation for why he has chosen to stay far away from the ongoing drama between the two superstars.
The fresh wave of controversy began just days ago at actress Iyabo Ojo’s high-profile movie premiere. Observers noted a cold atmosphere when Funke Akindele appeared to snub Toyin Abraham, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the industry. What makes the situation particularly disappointing for fans is that it comes only eight months after the duo supposedly buried the hatchet, ending a long-standing rivalry that had divided their followers for years.
When asked for his perspective on the clash, Ogogo made it clear that he has no intention of playing the role of a mediator. According to him, getting involved in disputes between women is often a “complicated” venture that rarely ends well for the peacemaker. He suggested that it takes a certain level of wisdom to recognize when to step back, noting that any man who chooses to jump into such drama is likely making an unwise decision.
The veteran actor didn’t hold back his frustration, subtly scolding both women for failing to realize the magnitude of their influence and the blessings they have received. He expressed concern that after achieving such heights in the entertainment world, they are still caught up in public spats. Ogogo emphasized that while men might have disagreements and laugh them off shortly after, women often turn minor misunderstandings into major mountains, making external interference nearly impossible.
Ogogo’s stance reflects a growing sentiment among industry elders who feel that the top tier of Nollywood should be focused on collaboration rather than competition. He questioned the logic behind the feud, pointing out that both Funke and Toyin are exceptionally gifted and favored by God, leaving very little room for any genuine reason to be at loggerheads.
