Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Says She Won’t Dance to Promote a Movie

zoyolsblog

Nollywood veteran Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has addressed the rising trend of actors dancing to market their films, making it clear that she won’t participate unless it’s spontaneous and enjoyable.

Speaking on TVC Entertainment, Omotola explained that the backlash against dance-driven promotions often stems from the pressure actors feel, rather than from natural or fun performances. “I’m sorry, I would not be doing the dancing. I love to dance, I’m sure a lot of us do, but there’s a difference between dancing because you feel like it and dancing because you have to,” she said.

She stressed that her role is to deliver strong performances, while promotion and marketing should be handled by professionals. “When it becomes a chore, when it’s just something you have to do to sell a movie, that’s not professional. I already did the project. My job is to talk about it and let the marketing experts handle the rest,” she added.

Omotola’s position mirrors that of filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who recently said he wouldn’t dance to promote a film, pointing out that making a big-budget movie isn’t worth it if the returns are minimal.
