Victor Osimhen returned to Istanbul on Sunday night as concerns grow over the arm injury he picked up during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool at Anfield.
The striker is scheduled for further medical checks on Monday, with doctors expected to decide whether surgery will be necessary after reviewing the extent of the fracture. The outcome of the scan will play a key role in determining how long he could be sidelined.
Reports from Turkish outlet Forza Cimbom indicate that discussions around possible surgery will follow immediately after the latest assessment, depending on how well the injury is responding to initial treatment.
The incident happened in the first half of the match when Osimhen went down after a challenge involving Ibrahima Konaté. Although he managed to continue until the break, he was withdrawn before the second half as a precaution. Subsequent examinations confirmed a fracture in his right forearm, which has since been placed in a cast.
Galatasaray later clarified that the decision on surgery would depend on further evaluations in the coming days, leaving both the club and fans waiting for a clearer picture. The situation has raised concerns about a possible absence that could stretch between three and five months.
The 27-year-old had briefly returned to Nigeria after the injury, where he was seen publicly with his arm in a cast. His recovery process is now being closely monitored, with some hope that progress could shorten the expected time away from action.
Despite their Champions League exit, Galatasaray remain in strong contention domestically and will be hoping for a positive outcome. Osimhen has been central to their campaign, contributing 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, while also delivering seven goals and three assists in Europe before their elimination.
For now, attention remains on the results of the scan, which will determine the next step in his recovery. He has already been ruled out of Nigeria’s upcoming friendly matches against Jordan and Iran, as he focuses fully on treatment and rehabilitation.
