Nigerian singer and father of three, Adekunle Gold, has confidently declared that he stands unrivaled in the music industry. Sharing a series of stylish photos on his Instagram page, he boldly stated, “Said what I said. I’m the best, no competition.”
Adekunle Gold’s journey in music has been marked by remarkable milestones. Last year, he was visibly emotional after selling out Wembley Arena in London. A viral video captured the moment he broke down in tears, with his supportive wife, Simi, by his side, comforting him as he celebrated the sold-out show.
Reflecting on eight years in the industry and the release of his first album, Adekunle also paid tribute to his mentor and YBNL boss, Olamide. He recalled his early days as a young graphic designer, designing the YBNL logo before stepping fully into music, and thanked Olamide for giving him the opportunity that shaped his career. Olamide responded warmly, reposting the tribute on Twitter and calling Adekunle family.
Adekunle also revisited his debut album, Vol.1, which he released four years ago. Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, he described how creating the album was a leap into the unknown, filled with both fear and uncertainty, but ultimately transformative, taking his career to new heights.
In 2023, Adekunle Gold took his talents to the global stage alongside Yemi Alade, contributing to the soundtrack for The Book of Clarence. The two Nigerian stars shared the screen with international heavyweights such as Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Kid Cudi, Jorja Smith, and Shabba Ranks. While the movie received mixed reactions and some backlash from netizens labeling it controversial, Adekunle’s participation further solidified his reach and influence beyond Africa.
From his early days as a graphic designer to selling out international arenas, Adekunle Gold continues to assert his dominance in the music scene, confident in his place at the top.
