A major highlight is the opening of Zenith Bank’s new branch in Manchester, led by Group MD Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji. The expansion boosts the Northwest economy and signals a strategic push for Nigerian banks to deepen their presence in the UK, with plans to list on the London Stock Exchange in 2027. Fidelity Bank also completed the rebranding of Union Bank UK as FidBank UK and aims to double its workforce this year, reflecting the growing sophistication of Nigerian finance abroad. Wellington College International will open a flagship British curriculum school in Lagos by 2027, catering to 1,500 students and reinforcing Nigeria as a priority for the UK’s International Education Strategy.
Bilateral trade now stands at an all-time high of £8.1 billion per year, reflecting the success of the UK-Nigeria Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership (ETIP).
