Lagos launches new online portal to fast-track building permits

Zoyols News

The Lagos State Government has taken a major step toward modernizing urban development with the launch of a new electronic platform designed to simplify how building permits are processed. This digital shift, spearheaded by the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA), aims to remove the traditional bottlenecks that often slow down construction projects across the city.

According to Kehinde Osinaike, the General Manager of LASPPPA, the newly introduced Electronic Physical Planning Permit Processing System marks a significant transition from manual to digital administration. In a statement shared with Reports, it was noted that the system is part of a broader “e-LASPPPA” initiative intended to bring more speed and precision to the approval of physical planning permits.

For residents, property developers, and investors, this change means they can now apply for and track their planning permits online from the comfort of their homes or offices. By moving the process to a digital environment, the state hopes to drastically reduce the long wait times often associated with paperwork, making the entire experience much more user-friendly for the public.

Beyond just convenience, the platform is expected to bring a higher level of transparency and accountability to the construction sector. Osinaike emphasized that the digital system will make it easier to ensure that all new developments strictly follow approved safety regulations and building standards, which is vital for the orderly growth of a mega-city like Lagos.

This move is a clear reflection of the state’s broader commitment to using technology to improve how it serves its citizens. By leveraging these digital tools, the government is working toward a smarter, more efficient governance model that can keep up with the demands of a rapidly growing population.

Developers and property owners are being encouraged to embrace the new platform for all future applications. The shift is seen as a vital component of the state’s vision to build a digitally driven environment where business and development can thrive without unnecessary administrative delays.
