Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday hosted a number of prominent political figures at his residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Among those who paid the visit were Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
Sharing details of the meeting in a post on his X account, Makinde disclosed that the discussions focused on key national matters as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the Oyo State governor, the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues affecting the country and the way forward as Nigeria prepares for another election cycle.
Makinde also expressed appreciation to the former president for offering guidance and valuable insights, describing Obasanjo’s counsel as timely and important at a critical period in the nation’s democratic journey.
He wrote, “Earlier today, we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election.”
The governor, who is also the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, added, “We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history.”
