Rogba Arimoro Explores Gender Dynamics in New Feature Film Project

Zoyols News

Renowned Nigerian filmmaker and showrunner Aderogba Arimoro, widely known as Rogba Arimoro, is making significant waves in the industry with a fresh cinematic project designed to challenge and reshape gender narratives in African storytelling. As the founder of Paladin Creative Services Ltd., Arimoro has spent the last decade carving out a niche for himself by producing high-quality content that resonates with both local and international audiences.

His impressive portfolio includes several well-known productions commissioned by Africa Magic, such as the legal reality show Judging Matters, as well as scripted hits like Venge, Refuge, and Mother of the Brides. Throughout these projects, he has taken on various pivotal roles, ranging from creator to executive producer and showrunner. This consistent output has not gone unnoticed, earning him multiple nominations at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and placing his work on global stages like the Raindance Film Festival and international content markets in London.

In his latest endeavor, Arimoro is focusing his lens on the complex social fabric of Northern Nigeria. His upcoming feature film, currently titled The Wrench, explores intricate gender dynamics within that specific cultural context. The project has gained significant momentum after receiving support from Africa No Filter (ANF), an organization dedicated to promoting nuanced African stories. This collaboration follows Arimoro’s successful participation in a specialized program focused on gender-equitable storytelling.

The filmmaker is committed to moving away from one-dimensional portrayals. Arimoro explained that his interest lies in the contradictions and complexities of real life rather than simple slogans. He believes that storytelling centered on gender should not be about merely reversing traditional power roles, but rather about examining those roles with honesty and balance. By staying culturally specific, he aims to create a story that feels authentic to its roots while remaining universally relatable.

Industry experts observe that Arimoro’s current trajectory reflects a broader, more intentional shift within Nollywood. There is a growing movement toward films that tackle sensitive issues like identity, power, and cultural transition with a high level of responsibility and depth. With several other features and series currently in the works, Rogba Arimoro is firmly positioning himself as a leader among a new generation of Nigerian creatives who successfully balance local authenticity with global appeal.
