Shaffy Bello Says She’s Done Having Children After Tubal Ligation

Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has opened up about a personal decision she made years ago regarding childbirth, revealing that she chose to stop having more children through a medical procedure.

The actress shared the story during a conversation about motherhood on her YouTube platform, Shaffy Bello TV. Reflecting on her journey as a parent, she explained that she decided more than two decades ago that she did not want to have a large family.

According to Bello, the decision was deliberate and something she had thought about carefully. She revealed that she underwent a procedure about 26 years ago to tie her fallopian tubes, effectively preventing future pregnancies.

She noted that the choice was not entirely easy at the time, especially because her former husband had hoped they would have more children. Despite his pleas for another child, Bello said she remained firm about the kind of family life she envisioned for herself.

Explaining the medical process, the actress said the procedure was done through her navel. Doctors accessed her fallopian tubes and tied them, preventing the release of eggs required for conception. She described it as a straightforward process that permanently ended the possibility of becoming pregnant again.

Bello emphasized that she had always been clear about the number of children she wanted and felt comfortable making the decision for her body and future.

Recalling the moment with a touch of humor, she added that if she were to ever get pregnant after the procedure, she would consider it nothing short of a miracle.

“My ex-husband had to beg me to have another child,” she said. “But I didn’t want many children. After the procedure, I told myself that if I ever get pregnant again, then it would be something like the story of Mary. That would truly be a holy child.”
