Xpress Payment Targets AI, IoT for Next Growth Stage

Zoyols News

Xpress Payment Solutions Limited has outlined plans to enter a new phase of growth powered by emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, following a decade of processing transactions worth trillions of naira.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Wale Olayisade, shared this vision during a public lecture held in Lagos to mark the firm’s tenth anniversary. He said the company’s journey reflects the rapid evolution of Nigeria’s digital payment space and the increasing reliance on electronic financial services.

Speaking on the theme “A Decade of Innovation, A Future of Possibilities,” Olayisade noted that technologies such as AI and IoT would reshape how payments are delivered, making them more personalised, predictive and seamless for users.

He explained that artificial intelligence would allow financial service providers to better understand customer behaviour and anticipate their needs, reducing friction in transactions and improving overall convenience.

According to him, Xpress Payment has grown from processing no transactions at its inception to handling volumes worth trillions of naira today. He added that the company has helped simplify everyday payments such as school fees, hospital bills, utility services and cable television subscriptions, which once required physical visits and long waiting times.

Olayisade also commended the Central Bank of Nigeria for its role in maintaining a secure and stable financial environment through policies that strengthen consumer protection and build trust in the payment system.

Speaking at the same event, the company’s Executive Director of Finance, Temitope Ajanaku, described the tenth anniversary as a milestone that reflects resilience and steady growth despite major challenges such as the COVID 19 pandemic and fluctuations in foreign exchange.

She noted that the company’s ability to adapt and remain consistent over the years highlights its strong foundation and commitment to innovation within Nigeria’s evolving financial technology sector.
