An Anambra-based prophet has raised alarm over an alleged plot to sideline or harm Labour Party’s Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Prophet Ikechukwu Uzukwu of Soul Revival Outreach in Nnewi said the growing popularity of Obi across ethnic and religious lines is making some powerful interests uneasy. He advised the former Anambra governor and his team to tighten security around him.
The cleric also claimed that a proposed Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, reportedly backed by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has thrown political calculations into disarray. He warned Igbo politicians against being lured with promises of the vice-presidential slot in 2031, saying such offers are being dangled separately to multiple Eastern politicians to weaken collective support for Obi.
Uzukwu further alleged that the All Progressives Congress has a pattern of using and dumping prominent South-East politicians once they are no longer useful. He cited the experiences of former governors and lawmakers from the region as examples.
The prophet also claimed the current administration is already laying the groundwork to influence the outcome of the 2027 elections, especially in Anambra State, and urged Obi to put proper safeguards in place to protect his mandate.
