Zoyols News
The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a chef identified as John Cosmos Govi over his alleged involvement in a major burglary operation at a residence in Abuja, where luxury items worth about ₦150 million were reportedly stolen.

The arrest was made public on Monday, May 25, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid. He disclosed that operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team carried out the operation after receiving reports linked to alleged criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, theft, malicious damage and the use of harmful substances.

According to police investigations, Govi allegedly got employed as a chef in the residence and carefully observed the movement of the occupants, their daily activities and the security structure within the property before the incident occurred on April 23, 2026.

Investigators believe the suspect worked alongside two other accomplices identified simply as Peter and Moses, who are currently on the run.

Police further alleged that food prepared in the house was mixed with a substance suspected to be a sedative, causing both the residents and security personnel to lose consciousness.

Afterward, the suspects were said to have broken into parts of the residence, damaged CCTV systems and escaped with 20 luxury wristwatches reportedly valued at about ₦150 million, alongside several other valuables.

The police spokesperson stated that Govi was arrested in the Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory while allegedly trying to flee to Lagos.

During the operation, officers reportedly recovered an iPhone 17 Pro Max believed to belong to one of the victims, as well as a suspected chemical substance linked to the case.

Placid said the police remain committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring that all suspects connected to the incident are brought to justice. He added that investigations are still ongoing as efforts continue to track down the remaining accomplices.
