Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been handed the number 22 jersey at Atlético Madrid following his permanent transfer from Atalanta.
The 28-year-old officially ended his three-and-a-half-year spell with the Italian club on Monday, leaving behind a record of 55 goals and 27 assists in 137 appearances across all competitions. Lookman, who previously played for Leicester City, brings a wealth of experience and attacking flair to Diego Simeone’s squad.
Atlético Madrid unveiled Lookman on Tuesday, the same day he joined his new teammates for his first training session with the Rojiblancos. The winger is expected to make his debut on Thursday night in Atlético’s Carabao Cup quarter-final clash against Real Betis.
Lookman’s arrival strengthens Atlético’s attacking options and signals the club’s intent to add pace and creativity to their front line as they compete on multiple fronts this season.
