WIOCC Group has secured a $300 million investment from Africa Finance Corporation and Vision Invest to expand digital infrastructure across the continent. The deal was signed at the LEAP 2026 event in Riyadh.
The funding will help WIOCC build more open-access data centres, fibre networks and subsea cables. It comes at a time when demand for data, cloud services and artificial intelligence is rising sharply across Africa, even though internet usage on the continent remains far below the global average.
AFC’s President and CEO, Samaila Zubairu, said the investment would strengthen the digital backbone needed for businesses and communities. WIOCC Group CEO Chris Wood added that the money would speed up data-centre deployment and expand connectivity both within Africa and to international markets.
Vision Invest CEO Omar N. Al-Midani noted that Africa’s young and growing population will keep driving demand for digital services, while WIOCC’s Chief Strategy and M&A Officer, Joshua Smythwood, said the deal improves the company’s ability to meet customer needs and deliver long-term value.
