Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted to reports that her political party will not conduct primary elections for the FCT senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development was made public in a statement shared on her official page, where it was revealed that although the party would not be holding a senatorial primary in the Federal Capital Territory, primaries for House of Representatives positions within the FCT would still go ahead as planned.
Responding to the decision, Yesufu appealed to her supporters to remain calm and focused on the bigger picture, especially the presidential election. She expressed confidence that the country would eventually move in the right direction despite the recent setback.
The activist also appreciated those who stood by her senatorial ambition, thanking supporters for their loyalty, encouragement and commitment throughout the period of consultations and political engagement.
She further disclosed that she would soon begin another round of visits across the six Area Councils in the FCT. According to her, the visits are aimed at personally thanking residents for the warm reception and support they showed during her earlier outreach efforts.
Yesufu maintained that her commitment to the vision of building a better FCT remains strong, assuring supporters that her passion for public service and national development has not changed.
