Alexx Ekubo’s Family Unveils Burial Plans

The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has announced plans for his final burial rites, with ceremonies expected to end on June 18 in his hometown in Abia State.

Ekubo reportedly passed away on May 11 after battling kidney cancer, a development that sparked an outpouring of tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

In a funeral notice shared through the actor’s Instagram page on Monday, the family asked for continued prayers and support for his wife and loved ones as they mourn his passing.

According to details released by the family, a service of songs will take place on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos, between 4pm and 6pm. Guests attending the gathering have been requested to appear in white attire.

The funeral activities will later continue in Abia State. A wake keep has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at the Ekubo family residence located at 7 Ekubo Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village in Arochukwu.

The final funeral service and interment are expected to hold on Thursday, June 18. Family members disclosed that the church service will take place at Mary Slessor School before the actor is laid to rest at his family compound in Arochukwu.

A reception for guests and sympathisers will follow immediately after the burial at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, with attendees also expected to dress in white.

Ekubo was widely recognised for his strong screen presence and memorable performances in several Nollywood productions. Over the years, he built a loyal fan base within and outside Nigeria’s movie industry, making his death another painful loss for the entertainment community.
