Actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State after being arraigned on alleged cyber-related offences. The Nollywood star was arrested in Lagos on Tuesday and flown to Abuja for prosecution, with her court appearance resulting in a prison remand.
According to insiders, Okorie’s arrest stems from a feud with fellow actress Mercy Johnson, which intensified last year following controversial remarks she made about Johnson’s health. While details of the charges remain unclear, the police have confirmed her transfer to Abuja for trial.
Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley, a close associate of Okorie, has slammed the handling of the case, calling it an “abuse of power”. “You arrested Angela Okorie at midnight, flew her to Abuja by 6am, and this morning took her to court, where she was remanded in Suleja prison,” Stanley wrote on social media, urging authorities to follow due process.
The case has sparked widespread attention, with many awaiting further developments.
