The parents of Big Brother Naija star Angel Smith have broken their silence, stepping forward to form a united front behind their daughter as her marriage to her US-based partner, Tumininu, takes a messy and public turn. The situation, which has rapidly escalated into a social media firestorm, has seen both sides trading serious allegations just weeks after their highly publicized all-black wedding.
Angel’s mother, Titilayo, recently shared a pointed audio recording addressing the crisis. She made it clear that while she is indifferent to public opinion regarding herself, she will not stand by while her daughter is mistreated. Titilayo specifically highlighted the age gap in the relationship, noting that she would not watch a 36-year-old woman make life difficult for her child. The mother also pushed back against the narrative that Tumininu is the victim, labeling her instead as a manipulative bully who has been feeding false information to bloggers.
The accusations from Tumininu’s side have been heavy, ranging from claims of infidelity to financial exploitation. The US-based singer alleged that she spent over $100,000 on Angel since her arrival in the States, including a $50,000 birthday celebration. Tumininu further claimed that the marriage was a rushed attempt by Angel’s family to secure immigration papers—a move she says she is now seeking to legally annul. Tumininu even went as far as involving the police, confronting Angel at a luxury store over disputed funds.
In the midst of these claims, Angel’s father has also spoken out to reaffirm his support. He emphasized that the family remains a solid unit regardless of the circumstances, stating firmly that Angel is still his daughter and he will always have her back. This public show of paternal support comes at a time when Tumininu has released leaked chats and voice notes where Angel allegedly discussed her mixed feelings about the marriage, citing financial concerns and a lack of emotional connection.
The rift seems beyond repair, with Tumininu already recovering luxury items like the engagement ring and a Rolex watch. She is demanding a formal annulment along with $40,000 and an additional $8,000 for emotional distress. She also wants a legal guarantee that she won’t be held responsible for any future immigration or financial claims made by the reality star.
As the drama unfolds, the focus remains on the sharp divide between the two camps. While Tumininu portrays the marriage as “dead on arrival” and a financial drain, Angel’s parents are standing their ground, insisting that the truth will eventually come to light and that their primary focus is protecting their daughter from what they describe as an “evil” and “manipulative” situation.
