Despite Atalanta’s openness to offers, top Premier League clubs have turned down the chance to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman ahead of the January transfer window. According to France-based journalist Achille Ash, Lookman’s representatives reached out to Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, and Aston Villa—but none made a move, with only West Ham showing genuine interest.
Atalanta remain firm on their €40 million valuation for the 28-year-old, who has scored three goals in 16 appearances across all competitions this season. The club are reportedly willing to negotiate but aim to keep him until the end of the campaign unless a substantial bid comes through.
Ash noted that the most serious interest for Lookman now comes from Inter Milan, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, and Fenerbahce. Reports suggest Fenerbahce are exploring a structured deal: a €5 million loan fee for the remainder of the season, followed by a €37 million obligation to buy.
West Ham’s pursuit has picked up pace, driven by their struggles in front of goal this season. With just 24 league goals and the division’s weakest defensive record, the Hammers are actively seeking reinforcements. Topskills Sports UK reported that West Ham have contacted Lookman’s camp to assess his availability, with manager Nuno Espírito Santo keen to add proven attacking experience. Lookman’s time in English football with Leicester City, Fulham, and Everton has made him a prime target.
Fresh from helping Nigeria secure third place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Lookman is expected back in club duty soon, with his next move now under intense scrutiny. Meanwhile, Atalanta, having strengthened their attack with the signing of Giacomo Raspadori, remain ready to sell if their valuation is met.
