Nollywood actress Mojisola Adebanjo has spoken openly about what she believes is a growing trend in the Nigerian film industry, saying actresses with Brazilian Butt Lift procedures and curvier body shapes are now getting more attention from movie producers.
Speaking during the Conversations With Kenni podcast, Adebanjo said she has nothing against cosmetic surgery. However, she feels the increasing preference for curvier actresses has made it more difficult for others to compete for acting opportunities.
She explained that many men naturally admire women with hourglass figures, adding that she sees nothing wrong with that. According to her, the concern begins when cosmetic enhancements become excessive. She also claimed that many producers now appear to favour actresses with BBLs and curvier physiques over others, revealing that she has personally lost opportunities because of the trend, an experience she described as painful.
Adebanjo also made it clear that she will never sacrifice her personal values just to advance her acting career. She disclosed that she once declined a movie role because it required her to play a witch, stressing that such characters do not align with the kind of image she wants to project. She added that she would equally reject any role that requires her to portray a stripper.
While acknowledging that several of her colleagues perform such roles exceptionally well, she said those are simply not the kinds of characters she is interested in bringing to life on screen.
The Haunted actress also dismissed the long standing belief that actresses must exchange sexual favours to secure movie roles. She insisted that every opportunity she has received since joining Nollywood in 2019 has come through talent, hard work and merit.
According to her, she can confidently say she has never slept with anyone to get a role and has no intention of ever doing so. She also revealed that she has never been romantically involved with anyone in the film industry, despite the common assumption that actresses are constantly surrounded by admirers.
Adebanjo further disclosed that her acting career once cost her a serious relationship. She explained that anyone who chooses to be with her must accept that acting is her profession and that she would never abandon her career for a relationship.
Speaking about her expectations for marriage, the actress said she hopes to settle down with a hardworking, handsome and financially stable man. She added that she would not consider marrying someone who earns less than she does.
Away from acting, Adebanjo is also building a career as a filmmaker. She recently spoke about her latest production, Ojo Coward, a relationship drama that explores domestic violence, emotional abuse and the struggles many women experience in marriage.
She said the film encourages men to treat their partners with greater love, respect and understanding. According to her, many Nigerian men often place their own comfort above that of their wives, and she believes that attitude needs to change if marriages are to become healthier and more fulfilling.
