A consumer has called on NAFDAC to strengthen its response to complaints about unhygienic bread production after finding sand in bread bought from two different bakeries.
The consumer said the first incident happened several months ago. After contacting the agency, they were told to bring the bread to its office in person before officials could act. The consumer offered to send a photograph and provide the bakery’s address and other details, but said the suggestion was declined. They stopped buying from that bakery.
A similar incident occurred recently after the consumer purchased bread from another bakery. They have now made the complaint public, urging the relevant authorities to investigate and ensure bakeries meet hygiene standards.
The consumer also appealed to bakery owners to maintain clean production conditions, noting that bread is a staple food for many Nigerians and should be safe to eat.
