Daddy Freeze Reacts to Arrest Calls Over Blessing CEO Interview

zoyolsnews

Nigerian media personality Daddy Freeze has responded to calls for his arrest following his involvement in an Instagram live session with Blessing CEO. During the session, Blessing claimed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer at a Nigerian hospital but admitted she didn’t know the stage of the illness or the cost of her treatment, prompting her to seek financial help from viewers.

Questions soon arose about Daddy Freeze’s role in the situation, with some people urging authorities to investigate him for supporting her. Addressing the controversy, Freeze explained that he had believed Blessing’s claims, like many others who donated to her, because he didn’t think anyone would fabricate a story about cancer. He clarified that he did not personally raise donations for her.

“I actually believed Blessing CEO initially because I don’t think anyone would come out and use cancer to lie,” he said. “Cancer is a very terrible disease. The report she sent me is the same one that was later found to be fake. To those saying the EFCC should arrest me for supporting her, did I raise any donations for her? I still believe she has a type of cancer because I don’t think she would just call cancer on herself.”

However, the Nigerian Medical Association (Delta State Branch) confirmed that the doctor Blessing cited as having diagnosed her never issued any medical report to her. The association stated that the doctor resides in Asaba, not Enugu as Blessing claimed, and warned that she had doctored the results. Authorities were urged to take action to protect the public from being misled.

Blessing had earlier shared her alleged stage 4 cancer battle on Instagram, describing her fear and exhaustion while trying to stay strong. When confronted with allegations of forging medical results, she challenged her accuser to provide proof or take the matter to court.

In an interview with Arise TV, Dr. Adefunke Arowolo revealed that Blessing had indeed presented a fabricated medical document. The report she showed was the same one currently at the center of a legal dispute with a family, whose doctor confirmed the forgery.

Blessing later admitted to receiving N13 million in donations from Nigerians, insisting she relied on what the doctor had told her about her condition. She stated that she could not apologise for accepting the funds but acknowledged the report was false. Following the backlash, she deactivated her Instagram account, and her partner IVD did the same.

The incident has sparked widespread debate, with many questioning the ethics of online fundraising and the responsibility of influencers in verifying claims before sharing them with their audience. Daddy Freeze’s clarification has, however, reassured some that he acted in good faith throughout the ordeal.
