Aliko Dangote says investors applying for N50,000 or less will receive priority in the Dangote Refinery’s planned public offering, as the company seeks to widen Nigerian ownership of the project.
He made the announcement in Port Harcourt during the final stop of the nationwide IPO roadshow, which brought together investors, business leaders and financial market experts.
Dangote described the offering as more than an investment opportunity, saying it would allow Nigerians to own a stake in a major industrial project built in the country. He encouraged prospective shareholders to consider the long term and said broader participation could help grow investment and savings habits.
“Nigerians should invest in themselves and participate in a project creating value, jobs and opportunities,” he said, noting that investors from Africa and other parts of the world had already committed funds to the refinery.
Economist Bismarck Rewane said the South South’s resources could support lasting prosperity, infrastructure and improved living standards. He added that the IPO could encourage more Nigerians to take part in wealth creation through the capital market.
Dr Muda Yusuf said the refinery could support growth beyond fuel production, with potential benefits for petrochemicals, packaging, manufacturing, logistics and other downstream businesses. He also stressed the importance of stable policies, predictable regulation and continued engagement with stakeholders to sustain investor confidence.
Speakers urged potential investors to assess the company’s performance, valuation and long term prospects before deciding whether to participate. Discussions also highlighted the need for sound monetary policy, accessible financing and a reliable business environment to support industrial investment.
Business leader Paul Usoro welcomed the strong turnout from the South South, saying it was important for investors in the region to consider the opportunity.
The Port Harcourt event concluded the company’s nationwide roadshow, which aimed to raise awareness of the offering and encourage public participation. Dangote Group says its goal is to give Nigerians from different backgrounds a chance to share in the refinery’s ownership and its contribution to jobs and economic growth.
