Davido Unfollows Dele Momodu Amid Custody Dispute Comments

Nigerian music star Davido has sparked fresh reactions online after quietly unfollowing his daughter’s uncle, Dele Momodu, on Instagram.

The move came shortly after Momodu shared a post addressing the ongoing situation between Davido and his daughter’s mother, Sophia Momodu. In his message, he urged the public not to panic, stating that efforts were being made behind closed doors and expressing confidence that the matter would be resolved peacefully. Not long after, observers noticed that Davido had removed him from his following list, although Momodu was still following the singer at the time this report was filed by Zoyols Blog.

The tension follows last week’s courtroom appearance involving Davido and Sophia over the custody of their daughter. Proceedings reportedly became heated during cross-examination, with the singer visibly upset. Davido later clarified that he had only requested joint custody, not full custody, and revealed that he had decided to withdraw the case. He maintained that his actions were driven by love for his daughter and his desire for her to know he stood up for her.

The disagreement is not new. In 2024, when Davido initially sought joint custody through legal action, Momodu publicly stated that Sophia had been solely responsible for their child’s welfare. He also revealed that he attempted to mediate by involving Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke, and his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, saying both men offered solutions within their capacity.

The family dynamics have been complicated for some time. In 2023, during a previous fallout between Davido and Sophia, Sophia also had a disagreement with Momodu. She unfollowed him on social media, reportedly displeased with his open support for the Adeleke family. At the time, Momodu had shared a birthday post celebrating Governor Ademola Adeleke alongside Imade, a gesture that did not sit well with her.

Despite the strained moments, Momodu later reached out publicly on Sophia’s birthday, referring to her affectionately and urging her to reduce the online tension with Davido. He reaffirmed his love for her and offered prayers, signaling his hope for reconciliation.

As events continue to unfold, fans are watching closely to see whether the latest social media move will deepen the divide or open the door for renewed dialogue.
