In celebration of his birthday, the Chief Executive Officer of Petokemp Estate Solutions, Peter Okeleke Ebuka, extended support to hundreds of vulnerable residents by donating more than 300 bags of rice and cash gifts at City of Settlement, popularly known as Odommiri Bethesda.
The outreach attracted widows, elderly residents, persons living with disabilities and several other vulnerable individuals from the community and nearby areas, many of whom turned up to benefit from the gesture.
Speaking during the event monitored by Zoyols News, Ebuka explained that he chose to mark his birthday by sharing with people in need rather than holding lavish celebrations. According to him, there was no greater way to celebrate another year of life than by helping to put food on the tables of struggling families.
He described himself as a steward of God’s blessings, adding that seeing smiles on the faces of beneficiaries made the occasion more meaningful to him.
The birthday outreach came shortly after a similar humanitarian visit by Ebuka to the Ogwashi Uku Correctional Facility, where he donated food items, toiletries and cash support to inmates. During the visit, he also spent time praying and encouraging them.
Some of the inmates who benefited from the earlier gesture expressed gratitude, with one inmate saying many of them had felt abandoned until Ebuka visited and treated them with dignity and kindness. The inmate appreciated him for the support and prayers offered during the outreach.
Religious leaders at City of Settlement also praised the businessman for his generosity and concern for the less privileged. Reverend Prophetess Dr. Mummy P of Africa described him as a young man with compassion and a promising future, noting that while many people celebrate birthdays with extravagant parties, Ebuka chose to spend his special day with the poor and forgotten.
One of the beneficiaries, Madam Comfort Nwoko, who spoke emotionally during the programme, said she had not been able to buy rice for months and thanked God for using Ebuka to support her family at a difficult time.
Community leader, Chief Monday Okoh, also commended the businessman, describing him as someone known for consistent acts of kindness rather than seasonal charity.
Reflecting further on his motivation, Ebuka said he considers himself a living testimony of God’s goodness and believes the least he can do is extend that same kindness to others around him.
He also encouraged business owners and well meaning Nigerians to continue supporting the poor, especially as many families battle economic hardship. According to him, real wealth is measured by the number of lives positively impacted.
The event ended with prayers, thanksgiving and the distribution of rice and financial support to beneficiaries.
