Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, has moved to calm nerves regarding the rumored internal friction within the Oyo State chapter of the party. Speaking on Wednesday, Morka dismissed claims of a deep-seated crisis, characterizing the current situation as a natural part of political engagement rather than a serious breakdown of order.
According to Morka, what many are labeling as a rift is simply the result of party members taking an active interest in the upcoming electoral processes. He explained that as individuals begin to assert themselves and show interest in various offices, a level of competition is inevitable. He described the developments as “normal banter” and noted that there is nothing officially alarming about the current state of affairs in Oyo.
The party spokesperson pointed out that disagreements are almost a certainty in an organization as large as the APC. He noted that when a massive pool of members must navigate a narrow selection process to determine who will lead or govern, competition and differing opinions are bound to surface. In his view, this is a sign of a vibrant political environment rather than a failing one.
Addressing the specific controversy surrounding a payment of N5.1 million by an aspirant named Fubara Dagogo, Morka clarified the party’s stance on financial contributions. He stated that the party does not simply “collect” money but instead provides clear guidelines and account details for those who wish to participate. He emphasized that every individual who makes a payment does so voluntarily and with a full understanding of the established rules governing the process.
