IK Ogbonna Remembers Late Friend Alex Ekubo in Touching Post

Zoyols News
Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has once again expressed his grief over the death of his close friend and colleague, Alex Ekubo, describing him as his “bestie for life.”

The actor shared a throwback photograph of himself and the late movie star in a late night social media post, accompanying the picture with the heartfelt words, “Bestie for life.”

The simple message struck an emotional chord with fans and followers, many of whom took to the comment section to express their sympathy and acknowledge the depth of the bond the two actors shared.

One commenter, sandra_ajebo, expressed concern for Ogbonna, suggesting that he was probably still awake thinking about his late friend. Another user, rilla_emma_onyimyechi, admitted that she was yet to come to terms with Ekubo’s death and said the post had brought tears to her eyes.

Similarly, hot.chokolate reflected on the pain of losing a genuine friend, suggesting that Ogbonna might still see Ekubo in his dreams. Another commenter, eveagbanyi2017, encouraged him to take comfort in the beautiful memories they created together.

Ogbonna has been open about how deeply Ekubo’s death has affected him. In an emotional video shared previously, the actor revealed that nothing could have prepared him for such a loss. He admitted that the tragedy had left him questioning things about life that he had never thought to question before.

According to him, the two friends discussed almost everything and had several plans for the future. His sudden loss has therefore left him struggling to understand how life could change so drastically in such a short time.

In another emotional video, Ogbonna spoke about their friendship and promised that Ekubo would always remain a part of their lives. He has continued to honour his memory through personal tributes and photographs documenting their time together.

In August, the actor marked three months since Ekubo’s passing by sharing pictures of the two of them. He described his late friend as an angel, reflecting on the painful reality of having to live without someone who had played such an important role in his life.

Ogbonna also previously admitted that life had been different since his friend died. Although he acknowledged that he was still processing the loss, he explained that he was gradually trying to regain his balance, refocus on his responsibilities and return to work.

The friendship between Ogbonna and Ekubo was well known within the Nigerian entertainment industry. Beyond their professional relationship, the pair shared a close personal bond and often showed support for each other during significant moments in their lives.

When Ekubo’s former fiancée, Fancy Acholonu, called off their engagement, Ogbonna stood by his friend and took him on a vacation to Port Novo in the Republic of Benin. Pictures and videos from the trip showed the two actors spending time together, with Ogbonna dancing to music while Ekubo appeared lost in thought.

Their mutual support was also evident when Ogbonna received a doctorate degree. Ekubo celebrated the achievement with a congratulatory message, welcoming his friend to the group and wishing him continued success.

Ogbonna had equally defended Ekubo against online criticism following the breakdown of his relationship with Acholonu, demonstrating the loyalty that defined their friendship.

For Ogbonna, the loss appears to extend far beyond the death of a colleague. His repeated tributes reveal the pain of losing someone he considered a brother and a lifelong friend. As he continues to hold on to their shared memories, his latest message serves as another reminder of the lasting place Ekubo occupies in his heart.
