Kunle Afolayan recently brought together some of Nollywood’s biggest stars for a warm gathering at his KAP Film Village & Resort, leaving fans impressed with his gesture. The filmmaker hosted Odunlade Adekola, Toyin Abraham, Mercy Aigbe, Timini, Kamo State, Bolaji Ogunmola, Yemi Solade, Ronke Oshodi, Kiitan Bukola, and other creatives following their recent shoots, celebrating both their work and the camaraderie that drives the industry.
Kunle emphasized the importance of nurturing younger talents and fostering a culture of collaboration. He shared that film is more than just cameras and lights—it’s about community, mentorship, and creating spaces where emerging storytellers can thrive. “Our industry grows stronger when we support one another, share knowledge, and create spaces where the next generation can thrive. At KAP Film Village, we are building more than a location… we are building a home for African storytellers. Here’s to more stories, more collaborations, and a stronger film family,” he said, tagging his guests and collaborators.
The event also came after a period of controversy earlier this year, when Kunle had publicly criticized colleagues Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele for what he described as promotional antics and questioned the fairness of revenue distribution in cinema earnings. Funke responded by urging him not to let jealousy cloud his perspective, reminding him that the industry has room for everyone to succeed. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde also weighed in on promotional approaches, stating that she focuses on the quality of her films rather than dance-driven marketing, a view echoed by Iyabo Ojo and Chinyere Wilfred, who encouraged creatives to find their own path without judgment.
Kunle’s recent gathering at his film village shows a shift toward unity and mentorship, highlighting the value of celebrating talent, fostering collaboration, and building a supportive environment for African cinema to flourish.
