Authorities in Niger state have confirmed the attack on a Catholic school in Papiri, a quiet community in Agwara local government area, where several children were taken by armed men on Thursday night.
Security officials in Minna said teams of police officers and soldiers have already moved into the surrounding forests in search of the abducted pupils, assuring residents that every necessary step is being taken to bring the children home safely.
The state government also acknowledged the incident and urged the public to remain calm while efforts continue to gather full details.
The Christian Association of Nigeria chairman in the state, Reverend Doctor Bulus Yohanna, said twenty five students were taken during the attack. The government, however, explained that it is still working to confirm the exact number of pupils and teachers missing as the situation continues to unfold.
