The Niger State Government has called on Dangote Group and other private investors to explore opportunities in crude oil development within the Bida Basin, as part of ongoing efforts to expand the state’s energy and industrial base.
The appeal was made during a fireside session held at the Dangote Special Day of the recently concluded Niger National Trade Fair in Minna. Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry and Private Sector Development, Hon. Aminu Suleiman Takuma, explained that the state is working with private sector players through its One Stop Shop investment model to unlock the region’s untapped crude oil potential.
He noted that the government plans to retain only a small equity stake in the project, which will be structured under a joint venture and public private partnership arrangement designed to attract stronger private sector participation.
Takuma also praised the Dangote Group for its role in driving industrial growth across Nigeria, pointing in particular to the company’s large scale refinery project, which he described as a major milestone in the global energy sector. He reaffirmed that Niger State remains open to investment and committed to policies that encourage long term economic development across key industries.
Representing the Dangote Group, Regional Director and Senior Adviser to Aliko Dangote, Fatima Wali Abdurrahman, described the company’s relationship with Niger State as a natural fit, highlighting its existing investment in rice processing operations in Wushishi.
She commended Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for implementing policies aimed at improving the investment climate and supporting industrial expansion in the state, noting that such efforts continue to attract private sector confidence and interest.
