The Nigeria Immigration Service has confirmed that Nigerians living abroad can travel home with expired passports. According to the agency, holders can use their expired documents to return to the country and process renewals while in Nigeria.
This clarification is particularly helpful for those planning end-of-year visits. The service also noted that the ongoing passport intervention in the United Kingdom has not affected regular appointments, with applicants being attended to as scheduled.
In addition, the contactless passport application platform remains active, allowing Nigerians who prefer remote processing to handle their renewals through the app without visiting a passport office.
