Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has dismissed two key aides in quick succession, marking a sudden shake-up within his administration.
Collins Aigbogun, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Youth Mobilisation, was relieved of his duties following his arrest over alleged involvement in the recent violent protests at a university in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area. The unrest, which disrupted public order and led to property damage, prompted the governor to order an immediate investigation. Aigbogun’s replacement, Christopher Udobor Iyase, has been appointed to the role, with sources describing him as a committed youth mobiliser passionate about the welfare of young people across the state.
In a separate action, Governor Okpebholo also removed Ms. Tinyan Otuomagie as the Managing Director/CEO of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited. The decision was confirmed by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Uwuilekhue Saturday Idehen. Mr. Smart Aigbodion, the company’s General Manager of Maintenance, has been appointed Acting Managing Director/CEO pending the selection of a permanent replacement.
The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, stated that Otuomagie would be redeployed to the Ministry of Information for other assignments as determined by the state government. The swift changes reflect the governor’s resolve to maintain accountability within his administration and ensure that public service positions are filled by individuals aligned with the state’s operational priorities.
