Police Dismiss Abuja Terror Rumour, Arrest Suspect Behind Video

Zoyols News

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a viral video claiming there was a terrorist attack in Abuja, describing the report as completely false and intended to mislead the public.

Speaking on the matter, Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, stated clearly that no such incident took place anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory. He explained that the video was deliberately put together using unrelated clips found online, all in a bid to create panic and weaken public confidence in the security situation in the nation’s capital.

Following swift investigations, the police confirmed the arrest of a suspect identified as Pam Joseph. According to authorities, the arrest was made after credible intelligence and digital forensic analysis linked him to the creation and spread of the misleading content.

The police emphasized that while people are free to express themselves, such freedom should not be used to spread false information capable of causing fear or disrupting public peace. They urged Nigerians to always confirm the authenticity of any information before sharing it, especially on social media.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to face charges once investigations are completed. Reports says that the police have reassured residents of their commitment to maintaining safety and order, adding that they will continue to monitor online spaces and take firm action against those who attempt to spread misinformation.
