The Rescue Nigeria Alliance is sounding the alarm: it’s time for the Senate to get on board with real-time election results upload, or face nationwide protests come 2027.
At a media briefing in Abuja, RNA leaders made it clear they’re not playing around. “It’s either they restore real-time electronic transmission or face total protest,” they warned. The group’s National Chairman, Dr Basil Nwolisa, and National Secretary, Akor Christian Oche, condemned the Senate’s decision to reject compulsory real-time upload of results, calling it a “direct attack on transparency” and a “dangerous setback for our democracy.”
RNA has been protesting since February 9, 2026, and is calling for expanded, peaceful civic action starting February 16, 2026, at the National Assembly and other key locations nationwide. “A dilution of transparency amounts to an assault on the Republic,” they stated. With 2027 fast approaching, the group is adamant that Nigeria’s stability is on the line.
The RNA’s stance is clear: the Senate must restore mandatory real-time electronic transmission of polling-unit results in the amended Electoral Act. Anything less could spark prolonged nationwide protests.
